Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp maraschino cherry juice You can add less or more despending on the color you prefer, but it will change the liquids in the recipe. My cookie dough was a bit sticky but they come out fine and taste great.
  • 24 Hershey chocolate kisses
  • coarse sanding sugar

Instructions

  • Cream the Butter and Sugar

In a large bowl, beat the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. This helps create that soft, tender texture.
  • Add the Extracts

Mix in the vanilla and almond extract. The almond flavor pairs beautifully with cherry.
  • Add the Cherry Juice

Pour in the cherry juice and mix until combined. The dough will take on a soft pink color and a light cherry flavor.
  • Mix in Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  • Shape the Dough

Roll into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Roll cookie balls in a plate of coarse sugar.
  • Chill the Dough

Chill for about 20 minutes. This helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
  • Bake

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes. The cookies should stay pale with just lightly golden bottoms.
  • Add the Chocolate Center

Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie once they come out of the oven.
  • Cool and Set

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a rack. The chocolate will firm up as they cool.
