Pom Pom Yarn Flowers

yarn pom pom yarn flowers are
popping up in our house!
i recently joined instagram and a gal who i’m following was making these cute yarn pom poms.  i can’t remember who it was that was making them, but i do remember how cute her photos were. if you go onto etsy, you can find a bouquet of five for $15 plus shipping.  so, i thought i would try making them and add a quick spot of color to my bedroom. i found it fun to pick from all the yarn colors available, the color combinations are limitless.  i also love how everyone is attaching them to a natural twig which makes it more like a real flower.  so if you don’t have real cut flowers from your garden and you want an alternative to silk flowers, try making these fun puffs of flowers.
so, i read on the internet that if you wrap the yarn around two of your fingers you’ll have a small pom pom. and if you wrap it around three, you’ll have a medium one and four will give you a larger one.  i wanted a somewhat small one, so i chose to wrap the yarn around my two fingers. it is totally your choice how many times you wrap, of course the more you wrap the tighter your pom pom.  i went around my fingers 65 times. not sure why i chose that number or if the yarn started to cut of my circulation to my fingers!  :o)
once you have finished wrapping the yarn, carefully take it off your fingers and place it on top of a single piece of yarn that is around 7 inches or longer long.  the length isn’t too important as long as you have enough yarn to tie a couple of knots around your loops.
then tie a knot around the loops.
tie the knot as tightly as you can.  of course this is tricky to do by yourself.  then tie a second knot to secure it.
now you have a bow made out of yarn loops.  take your scissors and place it in one of the loops and cut the yarn.  do the same to the other loop.  so now you should have what looks more like a fuzzy ball.
now here is the fun part.  start clipping the yarn to give your pom pom a hair cut!  you want to make all the ends even.
tada!  you’ve got pom poms.  next, i just went out into our yard and found dry branches from our trees and i just attached the pom pom to the ends.  you can put a dab of hot glue in the center where the pom pom attaches to the stick.  i figured that if i didn’t attach it with glue, i can change the pom poms out to a different color!

you can see mine are a little loose.  i probably will make them a little fuller in the future.

here they are in the background adding some color to my bedroom.  thanks so much for stopping by! for the rest of the week, i have more of my inspirations and on the weekend i will be posting my favorite blueberry buckle recipe!
