while vacationing in france recently, we noticed that each town in provence had a market day. so, technically you could go to market everyday of the week!  we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh fruit and vegetables that were for sell.  i bought a basket of these prunes and to my surprise they were amazingly sweet and flavorful!  since i had never had them, my husband thought i was a little crazy buying a big basket of them.  but, since they were so wonderful the whole family devoured them in a couple of days.  since returning to the states, i’ve searched our local grocery stores and have only found the darker prunes which are just as yummy.  oh well, i guess i have to make another trip to provence!!!
