Why you’ll love this Halloween Candy Bark!

The Graham cracker crust has a caramel flavor that’s totally addicting and adds the perfect crunch to every bite.

It’s topped with creamy white chocolate that looks beautiful and pairs deliciously with the crust.

The colorful Halloween sprinkles and candy make it so festive without any extra effort.

It’s an easy no-bake dessert that comes together quickly, even at the last minute.

Both kids and adults love it, making it the perfect party or holiday treat.

You can customize the toppings with your favorite candy for a personal touch.

Ingredients You’ll Need For Halloween Chocolate Bark

  • Graham Crackers (crust): The graham crackers provide a crunchy and slightly sweet base, contrasting the creamy white chocolate and colorful toppings.
  • Brown Sugar (crust): The brown sugar lends a rich caramel-like flavor to the crust, enhancing its sweetness and depth.
  • Butter (crust): The butter binds the graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar together, creating a firm, buttery foundation for the bark.
  • White Chocolate Candy Melts: The white chocolate candy melts provide a smooth and creamy texture to the bark, acting as the perfect canvas for vibrant Halloween colors and decorations.
  • Food Dye: The food dye adds a pop of bright and playful colors to the bark, making it visually appealing and festive.
  • Halloween Candy for the topping: The Halloween candy toppings bring flavor and texture to the bark, adding whimsy and charm.
  • Festive Sugar Cookie:

Here’s How to Melt White Chocolate

Step 1 – Place the Chocolate in a Microwaveable Bowl

Step 2 – Microwave

Now, here is the essential part of the instructions. Add a tablespoon of shortening to every 7 – 8 ounces of chocolate. Incorporating a small amount of vegetable shortening into the chocolate before melting helps it achieve a smoother consistency and prevents it from seizing in the microwave.

Step 3 – Cook in 30 Second Intervals

It helps to have the patience for this part.

Cook for 30 seconds, then remove it and stir in the chocolate. It took a long time for my chocolate to warm, but I was determined not to overcook it. And if you take your time, the chocolate comes out perfect!

Step 4 – How to Tell When It is Ready

Once your chocolate is half-melted, make sure to stir it thoroughly. Then place it back in the microwave for like 15 seconds.

This important! It is ready if you still have a few small pieces of chocolate. When you stir the chocolate, the heat of the chocolate will melt the small pieces. Stir until smooth and melted.

If you want to color your chocolate, add some drops of food dye at this stage.

Step 5 – Don’t Overcook!

Don’t overcook the chocolate. When the chocolate is overcooked, it will become a hard consistency, and there is no turning back. The package instructions did not recommend adding water to make it smooth. But if you must add some liquid, a couple of teaspoons of cooking oil or more shortening is ok. I had it ready, but never had to use the extra oil.

Step 1: Preheat Oven & Prepare Graham Cracker Toffee

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Line an 11 x 15-inch cookie sheet (with rim) with parchment paper.
  • Arrange graham crackers in a single layer, side by side. Break crackers in half if needed to cover the baking sheet completely.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and continue cooking until the mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Once boiling, keep stirring for 2 more minutes.
  • Remove from heat and immediately pour the mixture over the graham crackers. Spread evenly with a rubber spatula or spoon.
  • Bake for 6–10 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly and golden brown. This bubbling step is key to the right toffee consistency.
  • Cool the graham cracker toffee completely before moving on to the white chocolate layer.

Step 2: Melt & Spread White Chocolate

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate in 20–30 second intervals, stirring after each one, until smooth and creamy.
  • Add food dye if you prefer. I turned my white chocolate into pink with food dye drops.
  • Pour the melted chocolate over the cooled graham cracker toffee.
  • Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread the chocolate evenly to cover the entire surface.
  • Work quickly, as the chocolate will start to set as it cools.

Step 3: Add Halloween Toppings & Set

  • While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle on Halloween candy, festive sprinkles, and any other toppings you like as well as a Halloween sugar cookie.
  • Gently press the larger candy pieces into the chocolate so they stick.
  • Let the bark sit at room temperature until the chocolate sets, or place the pan in the refrigerator for faster cooling.
  • Once firm, break or cut the bark into pieces and serve.

Ingredients

Graham Cracker Toffee

  • 16 graham crackers
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup salted butter

White Chocolate Topping

  • 24 oz candy melt (Wilton) 2 packages
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • food dye Optional if you want to have colored chocolate.

Topping

  • Halloween candy

Instructions

Graham Cracker Toffee

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line an 11 x 15-inch cookie sheet (with rim) with parchment paper.
  • Arrange graham crackers in a single layer. Each cracker should fit side by side with the other crackers. Break crackers in half to fit the whole baking sheet. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat until melted. Add brown sugar to the butter and stir. Continue cooking until the mixture reaches a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Once it reaches a boil, keep stirring for 2 more minutes.
  • Remove from heat and pour over the graham crackers. Use a rubber spatula or spoon to spread the toffee evenly over the crackers.
  • Bake in the oven for 6-10 minutes or until the caramel is all bubbly. The toffee needs to be bubby to get the right consistency.
  • Cool graham cracker toffee before adding white chocolate

Chocolate Topping

  • Place Wilton Candy Melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
Add 2 tablespoons of shortening to the chocolate melts.
Incorporating a small amount of vegetable shortening into the chocolates before melting helps them achieve a smoother consistency and prevents them from seizing in the microwave.
  • Microwave the candy at 50% power or the DEFROST setting for 30 seconds. I found I could use full strength if I added the shortening.
  • Stir thoroughly in the bowl and continue to microwave in 30-second intervals.
  • With each interval, mix chocolate thoroughly.
  • When the chocolate mixture is half melted, you're getting close to done.
  • Keep cooking for 30 seconds. Mix thoroughly. When you have a few unmelted pieces left, your chocolate is done. Mix the chocolate, and the rest will melt as you mix.
If you want to color your chocolate, add some drops of food dye at this stage.
  • Pour the smooth chocolate over the cooled graham cracker toffee.
  • Add candies to the chocolate before it sets up.
  • Smooth white chocolate with a rubber spatula or the back of a spoon.
  • Let the Halloween Chocolate Bark cool, and then break it into pieces with either a knife or your hands.

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips

  • Room Temperature: Store your Halloween Bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent the chocolate from melting.
  • Refrigerator: For longer freshness, place it in the fridge where it will keep for about 2 weeks. Just note that it may lose a little bit of its crispness.
  • Freezer: Halloween Bark freezes beautifully! Wrap pieces in parchment paper, place them in a freezer-safe container or bag, and store for up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • Make-Ahead Friendly: Since it stores so well, you can make this recipe a few days before Halloween, saving yourself time on party day.

Variations to Try

  • Colorful White Chocolate: Add a few drops of orange or purple food dye to melted white chocolate before spreading it over the toffee for a bold Halloween look.
  • Milk or Dark Chocolate Base: Replace the white chocolate with milk or dark chocolate for a richer flavor. You can even swirl two chocolates together for a marbled effect.
  • Candy Overload: Mix up the toppings with candy corn, Reese’s Pieces, gummy worms, or crushed Oreos to add a different surprise to every bite.
  • Salty-Sweet Combo: Sprinkle pretzel pieces, popcorn, or a pinch of sea salt over the bark to balance out the sweetness.
  • Nutty Twist: Add chopped almonds, pecans, or peanuts for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Seasonal Sprinkles: Use orange, black, and purple sprinkles for Halloween—or swap to red and green for Christmas, pink and red for Valentine’s Day, or pastel colors for Easter.
