Autumn Home Tour

Autumn is my favorite time of year. I find that it is a slower paced season and it is nice that it follows the busy and hectic summer. It feels pretty natural to nest and decorate this time of year, so we were excited to be included in the Homegoods Fall Home Tour. Marci and I started a group of bloggers who meet in the Bay Area and we are all showcasing our homes in this tour. We all have very different styles and so it is a nice blend of home decor. You’ll have fun viewing the many styles and ideas for Autumn decor. We will be introducing all them at the end of the post.

~ A Note About the Nester ~
Recently the Bay Area Home group had a get together in the cute town of Half Moon Bay. After the meeting, a few of us stopped at the popular pumpkin patches. Well, I quickly grabbed a huge wheelbarrow and started loading it with pumpkins and gourds. I was a woman out of control, I was like a child in a candy store!

Let’s get started with our Fall Tour! As my husband will say, “Welcome to the Waite Pad!”

Welcome to Marci’s home! Her front door is so inviting and the Autumn decor is just perfect. Add some pumpkins, lanterns and flowers and you’ve got a beautiful entry to greet your guests.
Take your Forsythia wreath and add a few accents of fall leaves and now you have a new seasonal wreath.
The back or our entertainment is normally white. Marci and I cut out some green wrapping paper and attached it with double-sided tape. It is a nice way to change up rooms quickly and cheaply. It has such a nice cozy fall atmosphere.

White mini pumpkins are an easy way to introduce hints of autumn without spending too much money. They are so elegant and go with practically any color scheme. The velvet pumpkins and colorful dried corn I found at our local floral department at our grocery store.
I’m not sure you can tell, but underneath the glass table top, I placed a fun yellow and white chevron piece of fabric. This is another way to add color and change up a room for the seasons. Our pillows are mostly white and I love adding one or two pillows for the different seasons. It is an easy short-cut that allows you a bit of freedom since you don’t have to worry too much about patterns and color. Just choose out one or two colors that you want to emphasize against the white. Also, the color you choose will pop!
I adore the mercury glass vase I found at Homegoods on sale. I think I only paid a few dollars for it and what a beautiful statement it makes with the white and yellow.
Marci and picked these beautiful berry branches in our neighborhood. I was a little worried that someone would complain that we were picking them from the country club grounds illegally. So, when Marci gasped and looked nervous, I almost peed my pants with guilt. Well, it turns out that she was so amazed by the deer walking down our road and not that the local sheriff had caught our illegal branch pruning! Anyway, I’m all about bringing in the outside into our home at whatever costs.
This candle is a blend of a coffee mocha and vanilla and it smells delectable. I’m not usually a vanilla fan, but this smells of something very yummy baking in the kitchen. I loved the scent so much that I went back to Homegoods and bought another backup candle.
The tablecloth is a painter’s drop cloth that I bleached for a couple of hours. I love the natural linen look that it has. It has the look of the French grain sack that you see at antique flea markets.

The branches on our center piece are from a bush in our garden. I loved they light grey green color and how they matched the pastel gourd. It is a simple style but pretty and definitely speaks of Autumn colors and feel.

Marci and I found the green plate at our local Goodwill store. They have accents of gold which go nicely with the bottom gold-rimmed plate. Just add a few berries and you have a cute place setting.
Here is the pumpkin patch, now tell me you wouldn’t start loading a wheelbarrow full of these beauties?
This wraps up our Fall Home Tour. We hope you enjoyed it and are now ready to decorate your home with fall leaves and pumpkins. Have fun creating and let us know your favorite fall thing to do! I love collecting the white pumpkins and placing them everywhere in our home. Also, visiting some orchards is way fun. Enjoy this fun season!
Cheers,

Thanks Joan! Yes, the pumpkin patch was my highlight of the afternoon! Too funny, since it ranked higher than the Ritz… I guess I'm a country girl at heart!
