Here is an easy DIY Inexpensive Fall Wreath made of natural bunny tail grass. This natural fall project uses a few items, and I made it in a couple of minutes.
Fall is not complete without a wreath to welcome friends and family to our home. It’s a cozy time of year, and today, I’ve created a cozy wreath with some fluffy dried bunny tail grass.
I know fall doesn’t officially start until a couple of weeks, but we are kicking it off here. Today, I’m a part of a fun Fall DIY blog hop that Krista, The Happy Housie, hosts. You can see my friend’s projects down in the post, so make sure to read through to their fun crafts.
Speaking of crafts, here are few fall projects you might enjoy making:
As some of your know, my favorite pastime is hiking the hills in our neighborhood. So, when I walk among the tall grass, I keep my eyes open for items I can use for my crafts.
So, the other day, I spied some tall grass that on the tips of them had a poof of a fluffy tail. As I inspected the grass closer, I soon realized that they were bunny tails! You can imagine my surprise to find bunny tails right on the trail!
I never thought that they grew out here on the West Coast. I just assumed they were an East Coast plant that lived near the beaches.
If you are looking for some in your area, I always find them in the regions that have water. It’s funny since the internet says they like sandy soil and grow in the Mediterranean. I found bunny tail plants on our Montana vacation. And as predicted they were growing in an open boggy meadow.

Supplies you’ll need:
Bunny Tail Grass – If you don’t have any you can pick, you can buy them on Amazon. (You’ll need around 200 bunny tails)
Scissors
Step 1 – Create Bunches of Bunny Tails
I created about 40 bunches of bunny tails for this DIY inexpensive fall wreath. Each bunch includes about ten or more bunny tails. Also, trim the stems, so they’re about one to two inches long.
If you pick your bunny tails, I ended up taking a big plastic bag that I filled. They are a bit fragile, so I recommend that you transport them in a bag.
Step 2 – Glue Bunches
Glue bunches of bunny tails to your wreath. Attach each batch one at a time. Hold each bunch in place until the glue is set and the tails are exactly where you want them.
Step 3 – Glue Another Bunch
Place and glue another bunch of bunny tails over the first batch. Make sure to stagger them and then glue them to the structure. Continue until you’ve covered the whole wreath. If you have bare spots, fill them with extra bunny tails. Next, add a ribbon and tie a bow. Hang it on your door, wall, or bookshelf.
Thanks so much for visiting this DIY inexpensive fall wreath tutorial. Happy fall and happy crafting and decorating.
Cheers,
