Why You’ll Love This Peach Dessert

Easy to Make – You’ll love how easy it is to make this delicious summer dessert! It tastes like you spent a lot of time making it, but t takes minutes to whip it up.

Tastes Delicious – The peaches bake and are soft like a peach pie. The butter and brown sugar caramelize when cooked and top off this dessert nicely. We find we don’t need any ice cream since the sugary topping is perfect!

Grilling Brings Out the Best in Peaches – It’s a known fact that grilling peaches result in boosting their natural sugars. The peach and the tiny bit of brown sugar create a delicious caramelized topping that is pretty incredible.

Requires Very Few Ingredients – Besides the peaches, you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen. I whip out this dessert after enjoying a summer dinner out on our patio.

Fewer Calories Than a Pie – Since there is no crust, these grilled peaches are far healthier. A grilled peach is 116 calories, and a double crust peach pie contains roughly 334 calories.

How to Make Grilled Peaches

Step 1 – Prep Ingredients

Wash your peaches and pat dry. Next, slice peaches in half and throw out the peach pit. Also, there’s no need to peel the outer peach skin. Leave it on since it retains the peach juice when cooking.

Slice pats of butter and place on a dish, and set aside for later.

Poke holes in a sheet of tin foil. I use a fork to poke the holes randomly through the foil. Set the foil aside for later.

Step 2 – Prepare Your Grill

Turn on the grill to medium heat.

Step 3 – BBQ The Peaches

Brush a little bit of vegetable oil on the cut side of the peaches and set the peaches oil side down on your bbq grill. Bake for about five to six minutes until peaches soften and cook.

Next, place your prepped tin foil on the grill. Flip peaches over and onto the tin foil and sprinkle the peach with some brown sugar. Next, place a pat of butter on top of the sugar and sprinkle more brown sugar on top of the butter.

Step 4 – Cover the bbq and let bake.

Cover the bbq and bake until the peaches are soft and tender and the sugar is bubbly. When cooked, take them off the bbq and serve with a dollop of ice cream or coffee.

Frequently Asked Questions About Grilling Peaches

Do peaches have to be ripe for grilling?

Ultimately you want a peach that is not rock hard but also not mushy. It has to be firm enough to stand up to grilling.

How long does it take to grill peaches?

You’ll want the peaches to soften somewhat before flipping them over, which will take about 5-6 minutes. Also, a few dark grill marks are a nice touch but make sure you don’t want to burn the peach. So be careful of your bbq’s heat setting.

Should you peel the peaches before grilling?

I prefer to keep the skins on since it keeps the peaches intact. The skin also helps retain the peach juices, which increase when grilling!

How do you get the flavor out of peaches?

When grilling a dessert peach, sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom if you like.

How do I ripen my peaches?

Peaches will naturally ripen in a day or two, but try this ripening method if you’re in a hurry.

Place your unripe peaches in a paper bag and loosely roll up the bag to close it. This method will trap ethylene gas that ripens the peach. Also, you can add a slice of banana or apple, which emits ethylene and encourages ripening.

How long do grilled peaches last?

I eat them right after grilling so I’m a bit limited on how long they last. On occasion, I’ve had grilled peaches the next day but not beyond 24 hours. I hear that they freeze well by wrapping in plastic and tin foil. I personally love them warm and fresh off the grill!
