Now that summer is around the corner, and I always crave a nice cold fruity drink. Starbucks has this drink a, Dragon Fruit Refresher, on its menu, and I came up with my version. I created a drink that includes coconut milk, apple and mango juice, agave syrup, dragon powder, and fruit.

If you’re addicted to the Starbucks Dragon Fruit drink, you’ll be so happy to know you can make it at home and save some money.

I’m surprised by how easy it is to make this drink and how yummy it came out. I added a bit of agave syrup and probably added a bit more dragon fruit than Starbucks. My husband liked my version more than the one I bought at Starbucks.

If you follow my blog, you probably notice that this week is about cold summer drinks, and I have quite a few recipes. Here are a few that might interest you!

Dragon Fruit Refresher Drink

You might be wondering what’s in a Dragon Fruit drink.

For this recipe, I add apple and mango juice, agave syrup and a bit of coconut milk, and frozen and powdered Dragon Fruit. The combination of flavors is a tiny bit tropical and so unique.

I feel that the Starbucks drink is a bit weak in flavor. So, my recipe is a bit more committed in flavor and sweetness.

But before we get to the recipe, let’s talk about a few things.

What is Dragon Fruit?

Here’s Wikipedia’s definition.

Dragon Fruit is pitaya or pitahaya. It is the fruit of several different cactus species indigenous to the Americas. Pitaya usually refers to the fruit of the genus Stenocereus, while pitahaya or dragon fruit refers to the fruit of the genus Selenicereus, both in the family Cactaceae.

I bought the frozen version. It tastes like a blend between a pear and a kiwi. I had the chance to buy one in the grocery store, but the price was high, so I passed.

I like the taste and how it flavors like a cold summer drink, but also the color is crazy cool! So, I hope you have a chance to check out this unusual fruit and beverage.

I’m going to share a recipe to create two 6-ounce drinks. The recipe will adjust the ingredients to however many servings you want to make. If you need more than two drinks, make sure to move the servings slider on the recipe card below.

Things to Add To This Pink Dragon Fruit Drink

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Fresh pineapple
  • Fresh orange slices
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Fresh kiwi slices
  • Fresh dragon fruit
  • 1 shot of dark rum and 1 shot of light rum
  • maple syrup
  • grenadine

Every time I make this summer drink, my husband adds a little rum to his glass. So, if you like a boozy version, add a shot of dark and light rum. He told me to relay that information to you.

Daisy would LOVE this drink! She orders the Starbucks one…Pink Dragon (love the name).
I’ve been wanting to make it for her at home. Now I know how! xo
