Holiday Tour

I’m excited to be participating in a holiday tour with some of my wonderful blogging friends. Make sure to view all their links at the bottom of our post.

I’m so happy to share our home with you. I’ve been busily working on our Christmas decorations, and I think I’m about three-fourths complete. Now that I think of it, this is probably typical of all my home decorating projects. This Christmas I styled four rooms, and my daughter had fun decorating her bedroom. She wanted a little tree to decorate, and I quickly encouraged this creativity! Speaking of trees, I bought a used flocked tree this fall. And so now we have two trees, yes I’m now probably a little over the top with my decorating. Next week, I hope to finish up all my decorating and shopping antics. Eventually, I’ll relax and spend time enjoying the season’s activities.

~ A Note About the Nester ~
Last year we took a trip to San Francisco in December. While we were driving around, we saw many people dressed up as Santa Claus. We eventually figured out that there is an annual event called, SantaCon. It is a gigantic international phenomenon!

In 2015, there were a lot of changes in our decor, so this year’s holiday decorations may look a tiny bit different than last year’s. We bought a new white sofa and chairs. I love the lighter look to our interiors; it is easy to introduce new colors to our home decor. Here is the post on our white slipcovers.
Here is another arrangement of decor. Shop this style: Faux Sheepskin Pillows, Sofa, Hamsa Pillow
These cute bird characters were my inspiration for this year’s holiday decor of birds and nature. It’s fun to see where decorating will take you when you are open and flexible. On the other hand, it does mean you never know how things will turn out until you’re almost done! So, I must admit that I can be a little bit distracted until I have a definite plan.

This year, I’ve enjoyed creating a cozy little nest, and I’m rather fond of faux fur. Speaking of which, these great Pottery Barn faux sheepskin stockings are so soft and pretty.

Paper Garland

I’ve been obsessed with making things out of paper! My family was watching the cute holiday movie, Elf and they all realized I’m Buddy the Elf! Yes, I must admit I love his passion for making paper decor. I needed to watch that movie in October to soak in all the paper inspirations. Oh next year, I will make more paper decorations to add to my collection! Here is the link to the garland post.

Marci is quite talented with creating chalkboard signs. She was so kind to write this for our Pottery Barn post. This Painted Fox chalkboard is the best accent on our kitchen island.

So, here is our island after I had some fun with some paper snowflakes! I hung them up with 3M temporary hooks.

This cute little burlap pillow has a lot of personality. It was made by, Vintage Dayz. Carrie the owner has an Etsy shop of her wonderful pillows.

This garland has a vintage style and I am partial to the muted old fashion look. It did originally came with some pretty gaudy ornaments that I quickly took off with wire cutters. Don’t be afraid to alter things to get the look you want.

Our cozy family room. And, as you can tell we hardly use our fireplaces. Furthermore, the hearth makes a nice seat.

We’ll end the tour on a bright and cheerful note. This is my daughter’s room and she decorated her little white tree. As you can see, she loves penguins and these little guys are so adorable.

So, I hope your holiday season is festive and fun, and you have a wonderful time creating memories with your family.

Cheers,

Janine, I don't think I have to tell you how much I love your home and your style! I am obsessed with your Christmas tree! I am officially flocking my tree next year. I am sad it's too late this year. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas!

Sara, I'm so happy to converted you to the snowy tree! I love the flocking and how it came out. The tree was already flocked, I just filled in every green spot. I think I would look into to taking it to a Christmas tree farm and see if they'll flock it for you! Those trees have a really thick flocking material. Let me know if you need more info! Have a wonderful Christmas! Thanks for the visit and lovely comment!
