Family Room Futon Slipcover

the family room project continues…

as you all know, i’m in the middle of redoing our family room.  it was an empty and unused space that is slowly transforming into a room that we all hang out in.  when we bought the house the walls in the family room were a mossy green color and now they are tan with molding and furniture white.  i was recently trying to figure out what to do with our green futon, since it didn’t quite fit in with our new decor. i thought i would have to hire someone to make a slip cover for it and of course i was thinking it would be an expensive project.  i finally did call the company where we bought the sofa and he said it was a standard loveseat size.  lo and behold he was right and when i got on-line i found a ton of futons covers that would fit our small sofa.  i found a place that offered free shipping and carried a canvas white cover for $55.  so i ordered it since it got great reviews, the only catch was that it wasn’t returnable.  but since it received good reviews and i could see that it wasn’t some cheap material, i went ahead and ordered it.  when it arrived, i was pleasantly surprised!  the material wasn’t as thick as i thought it would be, once i put it on the sofa it looks great!  it has transformed the sofa into a light and more contemporary piece.  now i have to decide if i want to chalk paint the dark wood frame… the projects never stop!

it is dark and drab and in desperate need of changing the color! actually the moss color is similar to the color that was on the wall.

these are the pillow i found, but as you can see the tags are still on them.  not sure if i’m going to return them.  i’m always trying to perfect accent, so sometimes that takes me a few attempts.
