The Mermaid Drink is a visually stunning beverage embodying the ocean’s color, mermaids’ charm, and the essence of a tropical paradise.

My dear friend Francie, who hosts an annual Mermaid party, inspired this recipe. Despite her love for mermaids, she hadn’t tried this drink before. I’m sure that next year, it will be a new addition to her fun mermaid gathering.

How to Make a Mermaid Water Drink

This drink is incredibly easy to make and offers a refreshing taste without overly boozy. With just a few ingredients, this drink becomes incredibly simple to make.

Add a few fun flourishes and create colored ice cubes to complement this ocean-colored drink.

Ingredients:

Malibu Coconut Rum

Malibu Coconut Rum is a popular brand of rum flavored with natural coconut essence, originating from Barbados.

Introduced in 1982, it combines Caribbean rum with the tropical allure of coconut, resulting in a smooth and sweet taste. Its delightful flavor profile has made it a go-to choice for creating tropical and beach-themed cocktails, such as the iconic Piña Colada.

Versatile and widely used, Malibu Coconut Rum has become a staple in mixology. It is favored for its smoothness and coconut aroma, transporting drinkers to a tropical island getaway with every sip.

Curacao

Curacao, also spelled Curaçao, is a liqueur made from the dried peels of the Laraha citrus fruit, which is native to the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.

The liqueur is typically bright blue, but it can also be found in other colors, such as orange, green, or red. It has a distinct citrus flavor with a hint of bitterness and is commonly used in various cocktails to add color and flavor.

Blue Curacao is The most well-known variety, often used to create visually striking and vibrant cocktails. Curacao is a popular ingredient in tropical and exotic drinks, and it adds a unique touch to mixology with its tropical and fruity essence.

Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice is a sweet and refreshing tropical beverage made from the extraction of ripe pineapples.

Known for its vibrant yellow color and rich flavor, it offers a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess. Packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, pineapple juice is not only delicious but also provides various health benefits.

It is a versatile ingredient in many cocktails, mocktails, and culinary dishes, adding a tropical twist to recipes and a burst of tropical goodness to every sip.

Instructions:

Step 1 – Make Colored Ice Cubes (Optional)

Add food coloring to a cup of pineapple juice or water. Mix and fill the mini ice cube tray. Freeze before making this drink.

Step 2 – Coat the Rim of a Glass

Place honey on a small plate. Place colored sugar on another small plate.

Turn the glass upside down and coat the rim with the honey.

Next, place the rim on top of the plate of sugar and coat the glass rim.

Step 3 – Make the Drink

Measure and pour the Curacao, Malibu Rum, pineapple, and lime juice into the glass. Add colored ice cubes and enjoy.

Ingredients

Mini-Ice Cubes

  • water
  • food coloring

Sugared Rim

  • honey
  • colored sugar

Drink

  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 lime slice

Instructions

Min-Ice Cubes

  • Make these ice cubes way ahead of time.
  • Mix water and food dye in a small pyrex measuring cup.
  • Pour water into a mini-ice cube tray.
  • Put in the freezer and chill for a couple of hours.

Sugared Glass Rim

  • Place honey on a small plate.
  • Place colored sugar on another small plate.
  • Turn the glass upside down and coat the rim with the honey.
  • Next, place the rim on top of the plate of sugar and coat the glass rim.

Drink

  • Take your mini-ice cubes from the tray and place them on parchment paper.
  • Place a slice of lime on the bottom or side of your glass.
  • Measure and pour the Curacao, Malibu Rum, pineapple, and lime juice into the glass. Add colored ice cubes and enjoy.
