When it comes to cooking at home, I absolutely love putting together easy side dishes that bring a full dinner to life. Whether I’m whipping up something for a weeknight meal or preparing for a weekend gathering, having a few go-to easy appetizers or sides for dinner makes the process so much more enjoyable. There’s something so comforting about pairing a main dish with the perfect dinner sides—it just ties the whole meal together and makes every bite taste like home. Over the years, I’ve shared many of my favorite easy side dishes here on the blog, and let me tell you—they never disappoint. From classic staples to creative twists, my collection is full of ideas that are as easy to make as they are delicious to eat. If you’re ever wondering what to pair with your main course, you’ll definitely want to scroll through the best side dishes I’ve featured. They’re perfect for adding variety, texture, and flavor to any plate without spending hours in the kitchen.

Four of my favorite easy side dishes on display: sliced carrots on a rectangular plate, roasted Brussels sprouts on a round plate, green beans in a brown bowl, and glazed chicken pieces on a blue-patterned plate. The background includes leaves, a teapot, and various condiments.

Cooking meal sides and easy appetizers is one of my favorite parts of being in the kitchen!

I love that you can create something impressive and tasty with just a few ingredients and a little creativity.

Most of the side dishes on my blog are not only simple, but also foolproof—ideal for beginners, busy weeknights, or anyone looking to make dinnertime a little more exciting.

You’ll find plenty of recipes that are flavorful, fast, and guaranteed to become favorites in your household.

My Love for Appetizers and Sides

If there’s one thing I’ve always enjoyed, it’s making appetizers. I’m a firm believer that an appetizer or side dish can set the tone for the entire meal.

There’s something so fun about mixing and matching different flavors and textures, and sharing them with my family or friends makes the whole experience even better.

That’s when I know I’ve made something special—even if it only took 20 minutes!

And honestly, there’s no shortage of inspiration on my blog. I have an entire section dedicated to easy side dishes that fit every occasion.

Think cozy nights in, quick dinners after a long day, or even larger meals when guests are over. I make it a point to keep the recipes approachable because I know life gets busy—but that doesn’t mean dinner can’t still be delicious.

I’ve got you covered if you’ve ever needed a quick side for chicken, pasta, or even soup.

Bringing It All Together

Whether you’re new to cooking or need fresh ideas, having a few dinner sides ready can completely transform your meals.

I genuinely enjoy testing, tasting, and sharing these easy recipes. It’s my way of bringing comfort and creativity into everyday cooking.

A Personal Note from Janine

Life has been full and a little chaotic around here lately—can you relate? Most nights, dinner gets decided about an hour before we eat. I keep thinking back to those slower days during COVID when I had our meals planned out a week (sometimes two!) in advance. It felt so good to be organized, to try new recipes, and to enjoy dinners that weren’t just thrown together last minute.

I’m hoping to get back into that rhythm again—because when I’m organized, our meals are more delicious, less stressful, and a lot more fun. So, here’s to carving out a little more time in the kitchen and discovering new recipes to love.

Cheers to cooking more, trying new things, and enjoying the process along the way! 🥘💕

Cheers,

This Week’s Inspiration – My Favorite Easy Side Dishes

Among my favorite easy side dishes is a rectangular dish filled with glazed carrot slices, garnished with black pepper. A spoon rests beside it. Nearby, a wooden salt shaker, a piece of carrot with greens, and a checkered cloth lie around. White flowers peek into view.

Sauteed Carrots Recipe

If you’re looking for a quick and flavorful side dish, this Sauteed Carrots Recipe is the one to try! With only five basic ingredients—carrots, butter, salt, pepper, and a touch of honey—these carrots come together in minutes and deliver a beautifully sweet and savory flavor.

The butter adds richness, while the honey gives a light glaze that makes these sautéed carrots irresistible. Whether you’re serving them for a holiday meal or a simple weeknight dinner, this easy side dish is always a hit!

A white plate filled with a vibrant vegetable dish, featuring sautéed spinach and onions in a creamy yellow sauce. The background includes white bowls and a checkered yellow napkin, creating one of my favorite easy side dishes in a fresh and inviting setting.

Saag Curry Recipe with Spinach

Here’s a quick and easy Saag Curry Recipe incorporating curry, garam masala, and many more spices. The combination of spinach, onions, spices, butter, and yogurt pair beautifully with basmati rice, fish curry, or buttered chicken.

Add a side of garlic naan bread, and you have a wonderful dinner of such great comfort food.

A plate of my favorite easy side dish, roasted Brussels sprouts, is in focus in the foreground. The vegetables are golden brown and perfectly seasoned. In the blurred background, there is a bottle, a bowl, and a small dish. The scene is warmly lit, creating a cozy ambiance.

Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts

These Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts take 7 minutes to make! This recipe makes crispy, tender, flavorful sprouts that are quick and easy to make.

The apple cider, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, and brown sugar create a tasty blend of ingredients!

A plate featuring a pear, rectangular crackers, a bowl of jam with a spoon, and crumbled cheese garnished with jam—my favorite easy side dish. A jar of jam is in the background, and a container of more cheese is slightly visible.

Peach Jalapeno Pepper Jelly Appetizer

If you’re looking for a unique combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors, peach Jalapeño Pepper Jelly is the perfect recipe for you. This versatile condiment can elevate appetizers, grilled meats, and even burgers. Whether you’re a pepper jelly enthusiast or new to the world of homemade jellies, this recipe is easy to make and incredibly rewarding.

Let’s dive into what makes this pepper jam recipe so irresistible!

A brown bowl filled with seasoned edamame, one of my favorite easy side dishes, sits on a table. It's garnished with sesame seeds and appears lightly cooked. In the background, cups and plates are blurred out, suggesting a cozy dining setting.

Spicy Edamame Recipe

This Spicy Edamame Recipe packs a punch with a hint of sweetness from the sweet hot chili sauce. This sauce makes these high-protein snacks a family favorite. We often order them when dining out, which inspired me to recreate them at home.

My version was so delicious that my husband and daughter couldn’t resist cleaning the bowl!

A baking tray with golden-brown puff pastry twists sits next to a blue and white patterned plate and saucer. Plates hold more twists, a spoon, a butter dish, and a small dish of jam—the perfect addition to my favorite easy side dishes. The background is a light, speckled surface.

Homemade Breadsticks without Yeast

This recipe for Homemade Breadsticks without Yeast is straightforward and delicious. They’re so quick to prepare that I often make them at the last minute to complement our dinner. Since we prefer dipping them in jam, they don’t contain any cheese.

However, incorporating some Parmesan into the dough is an effortless modification.

Close-up of crispy golden brown cornbread cubes, one of my favorite easy side dishes, stacked on a white plate with blue floral trim. The cornbread has a textured surface, with some pieces slightly browned from baking.

Cornbread Appetizers Recipe

Get ready to indulge in the buttery goodness of this Cornbread Appetizers recipe. The sweet cornbread becomes infused with the rich butter flavor with each bite, creating the ultimate appetizer.

Simple to make and guaranteed to be a hit, this quick bread will soon become a favorite among your family and friends!

Plate of glazed chicken wings on a blue and white dish, surrounded by ingredients like ginger and garlic—one of my favorite easy side dishes. A teapot with tea sits nearby on a wooden trivet, completing the scene set on a light, textured surface.

Honey Baked Chicken Wings

These Honey Baked Chicken Wings Recipe are gluten-free and have a sticky and crispy outer layer smothered in a thick layer of soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic.

If you’re looking for a chicken wing recipe, you can make it in an air fryer with fewer calories and fat but still yummy; this recipe is for you.

More Side Dishes From My Friends

A plate with a serving of quiche, one of my favorite easy side dishes, is topped with chopped tomatoes and shredded cheese. A fork rests beside the quiche on the plate, which features a decorative blue and green dotted border. The quiche is filled with broccoli and mushrooms.

Easy Vegetable Quiche

This easy vegetable quiche is like a party in a pie crust—colorful, cozy, and guaranteed to make your veggies feel fancy!

A plate and a board showcase deviled eggs with a decorative swirl of yolk filling, one of my favorite easy side dishes. Yellow daffodils in a glass jar labeled "happy" sit nearby on a wooden surface, enhancing the springtime theme.

The Best Deviled Egg Recipe

These deviled eggs are so good, they’ll be gone before you even figure out what’s in that secret sauce!

Hot Honey Mozzarella Sticks

These hot honey mozzarella sticks are the ultimate snack upgrade—crispy, cheesy, a little spicy, and totally addictive. Perfect for game night or whenever you’re craving something fun and flavorful!

Latest Obsession – Kitchen Cleaning Sponges

Cleaning products arranged in a row include a tub of "Tangerine Clean" paste, "Scrub Mommy," "Power Paste," and "Power Eraser Gel." Like my favorite easy side dishes, three scrubbers in pink, white, and blue with smiling face designs are perfectly aligned beside the jars.

Scrub Daddy’s

After a day of cooking, the kitchen’s always a mess—and lately, my go-to cleanup sidekick has been Scrub Daddy! I’m completely hooked. I recently tackled our oven (yep, even the door window!) using one of their scrubbers and cleaning paste, and it got the glass sparkling clean without a single scratch. Now I’m a total fan—these little sponges seriously make cleaning satisfying! 🧽✨

This Week’s Tip – Changing Out Plastic For Glass

Two clear glass jars with wooden lids sit side by side against a white background. The left jar is empty, while the right jar brims with red beans—a staple for my favorite easy side dishes.

Glass Containers

I recently swapped out all my plastic food storage containers for glass, and I’m so happy I did! These sealable glass containers look clean and organized in my cabinets, and I even grabbed a few smaller ones for spices and teas. If you’ve been thinking about ditching plastic, consider this your friendly nudge—it’s such a satisfying upgrade!
