Chalk Coasters
We are a family of four and it seems like we are always running out of clean drinking glasses. So I’ve tried a few different things to solve this problem! First, I had different color glasses for each person in the family. That worked for a while but then glasses got broken and people started picking other colors. :o) So, then I thought of painting chalk paint on some drinking glasses, but I asked the people at Cost Plus about their glasses that have chalk and they said you can’t throw them in the dishwasher and that eventually the chalk paint will come off. I decided to chalk paint over cork coasters and personalize them and so far it is working. If my kids forget to put their glass on the coaster, I do it for them. Also, those cork coasters tend to stick to a wet glass, but with the chalk paint that doesn’t seem to happen. So it is a win-win situation and it is an easy thing to do! Hope you are having a great day and thanks for dropping by!
You’ll need some of those laminated cork coasters. I had the darnedest time finding them. Here is a Amazon link: coasters
Here is the paint that I used. Here is a link: chalk paint
I just painted two coats with a sponge brush. Paint with brush strokes going one direction and then the next layer paint the other direction. Let the paint dry in between coats.
Then I used this chalk maker that washes off when wet. It is a little more permanent than the normal chalk. Here is the link on amazon: marker So, now we don’t have that many dirty drinking glasses and I’m a happy mommy!
Thanks for visiting and if you want another option instead of painting, you can attach chalk paint adhesive paper to the coaster instead. It is a fast and easy alternative. I hope you found this post valuable.
Cheers,
