Get inspired to create with My Favorite Summer Decor to Make that will add bright, cheerful decor to your home all season long! When the sun is shining and the days get longer, I find myself diving deep into my love for summer craft projects. There’s something so cheerful about summer crafts—the vibrant colors, the playful themes, and that perfect mix of creativity and seasonal charm.

A collage of four spring-themed crafts featuring my favorite summer decor to make: lemon and blue floral wreaths, mason jars with yellow drink and floral lids, plus lemon-printed napkins with cookies, tea lights, and flowers.

Whether you’re looking for summer arts and crafts for a weekend project, want to try some summer art projects with friends, or need new summer decor for your home, crafting during the warmer months is always a joy. I love creating summer decor that brings a pop of brightness to every room. From summer craft decor that’s beginner-friendly to more intricate ideas, I have a variety of crafts on the blog that are perfect for any level of experience. There’s always something fun to make!

Summer brings a sense of ease and relaxation that makes it the ideal season to get creative. Whether you’re indoors, escaping the heat, or outside soaking up the sun, crafting feels like the perfect activity to pair with this time of year.

I always feel more inspired when nature is in full bloom, and everything feels more vibrant and alive.

Crafting Brings Joy to My Space

What I especially love about crafting in the summer is how it adds such a personal and inviting touch to my home.

A handmade piece of decor not only brightens a room but also adds a bit of your personality to it.

From Quick Projects to Weekend Art Sessions

One of the best things about my summer craft journey is the variety. Sometimes, I enjoy sitting down with a simple, quick craft just to unwind.

On other days, I’ll commit to a bigger project that requires more time and focus.

That’s part of what makes crafting so special—it fits into your life, whether you have ten minutes or an entire afternoon.

A Creative Outlet for All Skill Levels

On the blog, I’ve shared a wide range of summer crafts, and there’s something for everyone.

Whether you’re brand new to crafting or you’ve been doing it for years, there’s always a project you can enjoy.

Making Memories Through Handmade Moments

Crafting is more than just creating pretty things—it’s about the memories tied to the process.

Summer is full of relaxed, meaningful moments, and crafting fits right into that vibe.

Whether it’s a solo project, a crafting date with a friend, or something to do with family, I always treasure the memories that come with it.

If you love getting creative in the summertime as much as I do, there’s no better time to explore more crafts.

A Personal Note from Janine

A cozy bedroom corner with a bed, white built-in shelves and drawers, a yellow patterned chair, and a round black table with flowers—featuring my favorite summer decor to make, like a framed photo and vase with branches for a fresh touch.

This summer, I’m starting things off with a little refresh in our master bedroom—specifically, the bookshelves that surround our bed. I wanted to lighten things up a bit, so I went with soft ocean blues, a few vintage glass bottles, and my favorite hand-blown Glassybaby candle votives from Seattle. The whole look feels so fresh, cheerful, and just a little bit beachy—perfect for summer!

I also have a handmade dried blue wreath that I’ll be adding to the shelves. I’ve realized over the years that I can rarely find exactly what I want when it comes to home decor, so I end up making a lot of it myself. And honestly? I love that. It’s so fun to create unique pieces that truly reflect my style and make our home feel more personal.

So this summer, let’s get creative together! Whether it’s a wreath, a little table centerpiece, or a fun craft project, it’s always the perfect time to add a few handmade touches to your home. I hope today’s post gives you lots of ideas to get started!

Cheers,

This Week’s Inspiration – My Favorite Summer Decor to Make

A bright table setting with a lemon-themed placemat, a yellow plate holding three cookies, two lit tealight candles in square holders, and white flower arrangements on a white tablecloth—my favorite summer decor to make.

Easy Corkboard Placemats

Easy Corkboard Placemats are a quick and stylish DIY project you’ll love! These charming placemats take less than ten minutes to make and are both waterproof and wipeable, making cleanup a breeze. Best of all, you only need five simple supplies: a corkboard, temporary wallpaper, glue, scissors, and a razor blade.

A heart-shaped beaded ornament sits among pink and white flowers in a basket, with green foliage blurred in the background—my favorite summer decor to make. Text at the bottom reads "Happy Happy Nester.

Beaded Garden Stakes

Looking for a fun and simple garden stakes DIY project? These adorable Beaded Garden Stakes DIY are the perfect way to add a pop of color and personality to your garden! Best of all, they’re incredibly easy to make with just three basic supplies: wire, colorful beads, and a wire cutter tool. Whether you’re sprucing up your outdoor planters or adding charm to your vegetable beds, these handmade garden stakes are a quick and creative project that make perfect gifts for your gardening friends!

A spring wreath made of rolled book pages and pastel yellow and blue paper flowers hangs on a white window frame—my favorite summer decor to make. Paper birds perch on a branch below, with lemons and glassware brightening the airy background.

Book Page Wreath

This Book Page Wreath uses pages shaped like cones. Crafters call this wreath a Dahalia book page wreath. So for this project, you’ll need only a few supplies, book pages, glue, and a wreath form. This wreath is stunning and inexpensive to create.

Two mason jars, one yellow with daisies and one blue, sit on a floral-patterned cloth. Both jars are decorated with gray gingham ribbon bows—my favorite summer decor to make—against a softly blurred background.

Mason Jar Luminaries

The other day, I picked up a box of canning jars and turned them into charming Mason Jar Luminaries. I added a few drops of citronella, lavender, and cinnamon oils to make them double as insect repellents. With a bit of water in the jar and a floating candle on top, they make the perfect outdoor summer candle.

Two colorful woven potholders—my favorite summer decor to make—one in pink and white, the other in pastel blue, orange, purple, and pink, rest on a wooden surface beside a white bowl filled with unused loops.

How to Finish a Potholder Loom

Woven homemade colorful potholders are a great DIY project for anyone looking to add a touch of personal style to their kitchen. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to finish a potholder loom and start and make a cute pot holder with fun colors. The updated new colors are so much fun, and all you’ll need is a small square loom from Harrisville designs. The potholder loom kit contains a metal potholder loom, cotton loops, a metal hook, and a crochet hook.

A floral lantern hangs above a table set with a bouquet of peach roses, two orange candles, and glassware—my favorite summer decor to make—against a blurred garden background.

How to Decorate a Paper Lantern

Do you want to learn how to Decorate a Paper Lantern for your home? This pretty lantern is so cute hanging outdoor or in a fun bedroom. Customize it with any paper that matches your home decor.

A wreath made of pale pink and yellow paper leaves, decorated with small faux lemons and a large yellow ribbon, hangs on a glass door—my favorite summer decor to make.

Lemon Wreath DIY

Here’s a unique Lemon Wreath DIY made out of paper. The pretty yellow and pink patterned paper sets this off among the traditional wreaths. Its bright and cheerful style reminds me of pink lemonade. You don’t have to be too crafty to make this pretty spring/summer wreath.

More Crafts From My Friends

A white chair with a blue and white striped pillow featuring fabric flowers, one of my favorite summer decor to make. On the chair sits a stack of tied vintage books, with a white shelf, plates, and a folded cream blanket in the background.

No Sew Pillow Covers DIY

The blog post offers a creative and accessible DIY project for making no-sew pillow covers using drop cloths, featuring a charming hydrangea design.

This tutorial is perfect for those looking to add a personalized touch to their home decor without the need for sewing skills.

A hanging floral arrangement shaped like a chandelier, decorated with orange, white, and pink roses, greenery, and suspended outdoors against trees—my favorite summer decor to make for a stunning seasonal display.

Vintage Lampshade Flower Crown

This shares a creative DIY project that transforms vintage lampshade frames into stunning floral chandeliers, perfect for elevating any special occasion.

Using materials like floral foam, fresh blooms, and wire, Leslie provides step-by-step instructions to craft these unique hanging centerpieces, as featured in her book A Home to Share.

A hand holds a round wreath made of large wooden beads, decorated at the bottom with pink and white artificial flowers, green leaves, and small pink berries—my favorite summer decor to make. The background is a white cabinet.

DIY Wood Bead Floral Wreath

This blog post offers a step-by-step guide to creating a charming DIY wood bead floral wreath, perfect for spring or any season.

Utilizing cost-effective materials like 2″ split wood balls and faux florals, the tutorial provides an easy and budget-friendly way to craft a stylish wreath for your home.

Latest Obsession – Paint By Number Kit

Two watercolor-style paintings: one of pink flowers in a textured glass vase, the other of a single pink flower with a green stem. Below is a pink and white box labeled "Unique Paint By Numbers Likey Factory"—perfect for my favorite flower crafts.

Paint By Number Kit

I had so much fun working on this paint-by-number painting with my husband. It was such a relaxing way to spend time together, and even more fun knowing we were creating something we could hang on our wall. There’s just something special about making art with your own hands! If you’re looking for a fun and creative summer project—whether it’s a solo afternoon or a cozy activity to do with your significant other—I highly recommend giving this one a try. You’ll love the process and the finished piece!

This Week’s Tip – Temporary Wallpaper

Seamless pattern of whole lemons, lemon slices, green leaves, and white blossoms on branches—this design is my favorite summer decor to make, arranged artistically on a light background.

Temporary Wallpaper

Do you ever want new placemats but can’t find any that match your home decor? I run into this all the time. Well, I finally figured out the perfect solution—and it’s so easy! Just take some old corkboard placemats and cover them with your favorite temporary wallpaper. It’s such a quick, budget-friendly project and you can customize them to match any style or season. I love how mine turned out and now I’m tempted to make a few more sets for different occasions!

A circular bracelet made of evenly spaced, smooth, round wooden beads, displayed on a white background—it's my favorite summer decor to make for adding a natural touch to any space.

Several white paper lanterns of various sizes are clustered together against a plain white background. The lanterns have a ribbed texture and appear to be floating—my favorite summer decor to make for a light, airy feel.
