These premium salmon burgers don’t have an overly fishy taste; they’re more akin in texture to turkey burgers. The flavor is exceptional, and their taste will likely surprise and delight you.

Honestly, I’m not usually big on salmon patties. So, the fact that I’m telling you about this simple dinner option means I must be a fan of these burgers!

Whenever I find myself swamped and dinner planning feels like a task, I can rely on Trader Joe’s frozen salmon burgers. They’re always in our freezer, ready for busy night dinners.

Speaking of quick meals, here are a few that I love!

A Quick Review of Trader Joe’s Salmon Burgers

  • Fantastic Flavor Variety: Trader Joe’s Salmon Burger boasts an array of mouthwatering flavors beyond the ordinary fish taste. Preparing the salmon burger on the stovetop with a frying pan is recommended for a milder flavor. Microwaving tends to intensify the fishy taste.
  • Versatile Texture: With a texture reminiscent of turkey burgers, these salmon patties offer a pleasant bite that’s not overly fishy, appealing to a broader range of palates.
  • Quick and Convenient: Whip up a satisfying dinner in minutes with these premade salmon burgers, perfect for busy weeknights when you want a hassle-free yet delicious meal.
  • Endless Pairing Possibilities: Elevate the burger with various accompaniments like creamy coleslaw, sweet sauces, or toasted brioche buns, allowing creative and personalized flavor combinations.
  • Premium Quality: Trader Joe’s commitment to quality shines through in these premium salmon burgers, making them a reliable option for those seeking a high-standard seafood meal at home.
  • Low Calorie: These burgers have 100 calories per patty, making them an excellent choice if you watch your diet.

Salmon Burger Add-ons

I highly recommend adding these ingredients to your burger!

  • Coleslaw: One way to add texture to salmon is by pairing it with a smooth and sweet coleslaw. The coleslaw, with its delightful crunch and touch of sweetness, adds this excellent fresh balance to the salmon burgers. Shortcut: Buy a premade coleslaw dressing and add it to a coleslaw mix.
  • Chik-fil-A Copycat Sauce: This homemade Chik-fil-A Sauce brings a lusciously sweet and creamy touch to the fish, almost resembling a unique take on tartar sauce. Shortcut: Buy the bottled Chik-fil-A sauce in your local grocery store.
  • Toasted Brioche Buns: A toasted brioche bun can develop a gentle caramelization on its surface, enhancing its flavor and adding a subtle sweetness to the overall burger experience.

How to Make Your Salmon Burgers

Make the Coleslaw

Step 1 – Prep Cabbage

Shred the cabbage or thinly slice it.

Step 2 – Make Dressing

Mix mayonnaise, sugar, honey, lemon juice, vinegar, pepper, and salt until smooth and creamy.

Step 3 – Mix Ingredients

Mix the dressing and the cabbage in a bowl.

Make Chik-fil-A Copycat Sauce

Step 1 – Mix Ingredients

Combine the mayonnaise, honey, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in a bowl.

Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Start with a small amount and adjust as needed.

How to Cook Trader Joe’s Salmon Burgers

Step 1 – Cook the Salmon

Skillet: Heat a pan on your stovetop. Coat the pan with a thin layer of cooking oil. Place salmon patties in the hot pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes each side of the salmon burgers. I prefer cooking the burgers in a skillet since it keeps the meat tender and moist.

Grill: To grill the salmon burgers, prepare the grill for cooking. I recommend using a veggie tray or putting down some tin foil with poked holes. Place a small amount of cooking oil on the tray or tin foil and cook burgers for 3-4 minutes per side or until cooked.

Oven: Place on a tray with some cooking oil. Bake in preheated 400F oven for 9-11 minutes or until cooked.

Step 2 – Build Your Burger

A Cooking Few Tips:

Brioche Buns: Personally, I prefer a burger that is not overwhelmed by its bun. So, I often slice my buns in half. I think this creates an ideal balance of bread and the burger. Additionally, toasting both halves of the bun on the stove results in a satisfying crunch.

Toast Buns on the Stove: For a subtle caramelized effect, spread some butter inside the buns and toast them cut side down on a skillet over the stove. Cook over medium to low heat until the bun is toasted and caramelized.
