My living room color all started with a girl’s trip to San Francisco.
But, before I ramble, I should introduce myself and say, “hello” if you are joining me from Jennifer from Town and Country Living Summer Colors Tour.
You are in for a treat! We have a week-long list of bloggers is at the bottom of the post and they are sharing their colorful homes as well.
So happy touring all these beautiful homes!
I’m sure you are probably wondering how does a trip to the city relate to my room color.
Well, our girl’s day out was mostly about the incredible San Francisco Flower Market.
This place always makes me smile.
My eyes were dazzled with row after row of gorgeous flowers.
I was surrounded by pink peonies and more peonies.
There were white ruffled ones, bubble gum colored ones and to my surprise yellow peonies.
So, I stood there just circling and drooling over the flowers.
I was a bit panicked that I couldn’t choose any flowers.
I had analysis paralysis.
Well, once I snapped out of my floral buzz, I made some choices. Then, a few minutes later, I had my arms full of a beautiful bouquet of pink peonies.
Then, the magic begins.
I love fluffing and changing our home decor.
Let’s just say, that this is when I am in my “happy place!”
You see, I know that if I go to the flower market and buy a beautiful bouquet of flowers my work is pretty near done. This was the exact thing I needed to jump start my decorating. The pink peonies took center stage and everything followed behind them.
So, I thought it might be nice to share with you…
My Five Quick Simple Steps to Change a Room Color
1. Flowers
Whether it is fresh flowers or faux, add a nice bouquet or two of flowers.
I find they add an organic sense to a room. A stark or stuffy space will instantly come alive with the natural shapes of the flowers and the stems. In my case, the flowers were my original inspiration for the color of our new living room look.
You may know that I simply LOVE flowers! And talk about how flowers can dramatically change a room, my good friend Sheela magically created this pink flower bouquet.
Stunning.
2. Pillows
Next, this is a no-brainer swap out some new pillows in the color you are decorating with. I can’t drive this home enough to my friends and followers. It is the easiest way to change your home up for the seasons.
This beautiful Peony Pillow is from Linen & Ivory. Kendra has the best selection of cute pillows.
If you can’t buy new, then make a few like I did for $3! I so need to write a quick blog post on pillow making.
Not enough time in the day.
3. Throws
I have a gazillion throws. Well, not that many, maybe a million?
You get my idea, change them out with this seasons and colors. I recently added a blush soft throw that is so beautiful and adds to my color theme of pink. I have a really popular post on shop my favorite throws if you are interested.
4. Candles
Add either colored votives or candles that are in the color that you are decorating with. These are little easy accents that just give the right amount of color. Scatter them throughout the space for additional room color.
Btw, I have a fun interview with Rachel from Agape candles.
5. Mantel
I love to change out my mantel decor. Add a garland and in this case, I draped my white leaf garland that I crafted as well as my new wool pom pom garland. Don’t make this a hard task, have a base garland and just add a few touches of color to it.
Enjoy the rest of the tour, and don’t forget to change up your living room with these 5 easy elements! I’m confident you’ll be happy with your new and fresh space. If you are craving more flower arrangements stay a bit and view more, here. Better yet sign up for my newsletter so you never miss out.
