Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 164
Things have been a bit hectic lately, but we’ve found comfort in our evening ritual of sipping on Grapefruit Palomas! There’s something so soothing about squeezing fresh grapefruit, embracing its vibrant pulp and natural sweetness. Ah, the simple pleasures of a refreshing drink!
I love this quote.
“Life’s too short to say no to a good cocktail.”
A Personal Note from Janine
Around here, summer means scorching afternoons and balmy evenings. We love nothing more than lounging on our outdoor patio, sipping on fruity concoctions.
Our go-to summer drink? The grapefruit paloma, hands down. It’s got that perfect blend of tangy, sweet, and refreshing, especially when served over crushed ice!
Speaking of crushed ice, I recently got my hands on a Hawaiian Ice Shaver machine, and it’s a game-changer. If you’re tired of dealing with noisy, slow ice crushers, this is the way to go. The other day, I whipped up some shaved ice and added it to my iced coffee—it was an absolute delight!
As for our fridge’s ice crusher? Let’s just say it’s got a mind of its own. I could probably write a whole post about the adventures of dealing with that contraption!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these drink recipes as much as we do!
Cheers to summer vibes!

This Week’s Tip – Nespresso Coffee Maker
It took me a bit of time to warm up to the whole coffee pod craze. I had my reservations, especially with all the plastic waste from traditional pods. Plus, I was on a mission to find a more eco-friendly option.
Then, my friend Leslie introduced me to the Nespresso Vertuo machine, and it was a game-changer! Not only does the coffee taste fantastic, but the recyclable aluminum pods eased my conscience. Now, I simply return the used pods to our local Nespresso store, and I feel good about my coffee choice.
Oh my goodness, the coffee crema is so yummy. It’s like having barista-made coffee right in your own kitchen! Needless to say, our Starbucks visits have taken a backseat since we welcomed this wonderful machine into our home.
