From Drawing Board to Reality…
i hope your new year is off to a good start. around our home we are doing all the quintessential things that come with new year. we are trying to shed all those extra pounds we put on during the holidays, we are organizing our home, and as most of you know, i’ve been working on redecorating our living room. we have lived in our home for about 5 years, so it was time to work on the decor. recently, i wanted to have a lighter look, so i decided to paint the walls a lighter shade of beige. so, the walls went from a dark mocha color to tan, and this was the beginning of a fresh start. so, to help me with the process, i found an app that is so handy. i’m able to pull images of products off the internet. this is how i tried many rug choices and settled on this fun and light rug from, pier 1 imports. as you can see, i’m still not finished with the room, and i seem to be at road block! i can’t find the drapes that go best with the room decor. i have posted a few choices for the drapes, but i still feel i may want a little drama and playfulness. i’m a little scared to commit to a look for the drapes. i kind of believe that i just haven’t found the perfect one for the job! if you have any ideas, shoot me a comment, i would love to hear from you.
~ a funny note about the nester ~
when our kiddos were little, my husband and the kids would have a little picnic dinner in our living room when i went out for an evening with my girlfriends. as you probably figured out, i didn’t allow eating in our living room when they were toddlers. i’m sure, they’ll need therapy when they are older… :o)

this whole living room redesign, all kind of started with these fun silver lamps that i found at goodwill. of course, these purchases sat on my living room floor for months, and at one point, i wasn’t sure that i made a good purchase. eventually, i got my creative juices going and, one thing lead to another, and now we have a room that is lighter and more coordinated. a funny back story about these goodwill lamps. i spied these two ladies looking pretty seriously at these silver lamps with their hideous bright pink lampshades. of course, i hovered around them like a hawk, waiting for them to not buy them! finally, i got impatient and asked them if they were going to buy it, they spoke in spanish and said, “mucho dinero, mucho dinero!” so, being the crazy bi-lingual nester (i’m not really bi-lingual, but just have 3 years of college spanish under my belt) understood those words, and i immediately snatched them up! :o)

i thought you might enjoy looking at this before photo, which shows our dark green chairs and sofa that we owned in our last home in seattle. we had a starbucks coffee shop look, that was great for our pacific northwest home. but, now with our san francisco home, we were ready for a sunny california style. since owning our house, we overhauled the fireplace, it was originally had a pink brick front and had an arch in the design, kind of reminiscent of the taco bell arches. my husband couldn’t wait to get the new fireplace designed. if you are interested in our remodel here is the post: remodel

our house has been a labor of love and continues to provide many more projects for the future. i guess, i should view all of this as an endless resource for my blog!

you are so incredibly kind to visit and read my blog post. let me know what you would like to see more of and i’ll try and listen to your comments and tailor future post to you!

cheers,
