Lemon Aioli Sauce Recipe is one of my favorite easy sauces to make when I want to add fresh flavor to seafood, sandwiches, burgers, and roasted vegetables. This creamy garlic aioli combines mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, garlic, and a touch of honey to create a smooth and delicious dipping sauce. Whether you’re serving it with salmon, crab cakes, fish tacos, or crispy potatoes, this homemade lemon aioli is a simple condiment that elevates any meal.

A white bowl filled with creamy, light yellow lemon aioli sauce rests on a countertop, a spoon inside. Nearby are a floral napkin, a small bowl, and a glass bowl of salt—perfect for your next lemon aioli sauce recipe.

My first introduction to lemon aioli was shortly after we moved to San Francisco. We visited a charming French restaurant that served crispy frites alongside the most delicious creamy lemon-garlic sauce. One bite and I was hooked. For years, I ordered aioli whenever I saw it on a menu before finally deciding to create my own version at home.

What I love most about this sauce is how simple it is to make. Using prepared mayonnaise keeps the recipe quick and easy, while a handful of ingredients create an incredible depth of flavor. The garlic adds a savory richness, the lemon brings brightness, and a touch of honey balances everything beautifully. Together, they create a creamy sauce with the perfect blend of tangy, salty, and slightly sweet flavors that pairs wonderfully with seafood, sandwiches, fries, and roasted vegetables.

Why You’ll Love This Lemon Aioli Sauce

Ready in 5 Minutes
One of my favorite things about this lemon aioli is how quickly it comes together. Simply whisk the ingredients together in a bowl, and you’ll have a flavorful homemade sauce ready to serve in about five minutes. It’s the perfect last-minute addition to weeknight dinners, appetizers, and sandwiches.

Simple Ingredients
This recipe relies on a handful of easy-to-find ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen. Fresh lemon, garlic, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, and olive oil work together to create a creamy sauce with incredible flavor. There’s nothing complicated about this recipe, yet the results taste like something you would order at a restaurant.

Great for Meal Prep
This aioli can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use it. In fact, the flavors become even better after sitting for a little while, allowing the garlic and lemon to blend together. Make a batch at the beginning of the week and enjoy it with several meals.

Versatile for Many Dishes
This creamy lemon garlic sauce pairs well with so many foods. Use it as a dipping sauce for French fries, sweet potato fries, shrimp, or crab cakes. Spread it on burgers, sandwiches, and wraps, or drizzle it over salmon, fish tacos, roasted vegetables, and grain bowls. Once you have a jar in the refrigerator, you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise creates the rich and creamy base of this aioli, giving it a smooth texture that’s perfect for dipping and spreading.

Garlic: Fresh garlic adds a bold, savory flavor that gives this sauce its classic aioli taste and depth.

Fresh Lemon Juice: Lemon juice brightens the sauce with a fresh citrus flavor and balances the richness of the mayonnaise.

Lemon Zest: A little lemon zest enhances the citrus flavor and adds an extra burst of fresh lemon aroma.

Dijon Mustard: Dijon mustard contributes a subtle tang and complexity that rounds out the flavors without overpowering the sauce.

Honey: A touch of honey softens the acidity from the lemon and mustard while adding just enough sweetness to create a balanced flavor.

Olive Oil: Olive oil adds a silky texture and a hint of richness that helps bring all the ingredients together.

Step 2 – Season the Sauce
Add a pinch of salt and black pepper and stir until everything is well combined.

Step 3 – Taste and Adjust
Give the aioli a taste and adjust the seasonings if needed. Add a little more lemon juice for brightness or a touch more honey if you’d like a sweeter flavor.

Step 4 – Chill Before Serving
For the best flavor, cover the bowl and refrigerate the lemon aioli for 15 to 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to blend together and the garlic to mellow slightly.

Step 5 – Serve and Enjoy
Serve this creamy lemon aioli as a dipping sauce for seafood, French fries, and roasted vegetables, or spread it on sandwiches, burgers, and wraps.
