Fresh flowers can brighten a room, add a pop of color to a tablescape, or even serve as the centerpiece for a summer gathering.
There’s something so inviting about walking into a room filled with the scent of freshly cut flowers. It instantly lifts your mood and makes you feel more connected to nature.

A Personal Note from Janine
In the spring, I planted a few zinnias for the first time. I’m always buying cut flowers, so I figured, why not grow them myself and have a fresh supply in my yard? I chose zinnias because they’re easy to grow, and their blossoms can be as cute as dahlias.
I was concerned that I wouldn’t have much luck growing zinnias, but I planted them in our backyard despite my worries. My husband and I agreed this garden part would be a test run. We planted a raised veggie garden alongside my zinnias.
Much to my surprise, the zinnia plants sprouted from seed. Now, they are gorgeous plants with lots of flowers. I’m super pleased with how they look and proud that I had the patience to grow them from seed.
I did start a few in pots before planting them, and I must admit that is the way to go. The pots gave them a better start, and I had more germination success!
My vegetable garden is doing well, but my flower garden gives me more happiness. There’s just something so joyful about seeing those bright blooms every day.

Tulip vases, or tulipieres, have an exciting history that dates back to 17th-century Netherlands when tulips were all the rage. These vases were cleverly designed with multiple spouts to show off each tulip stem individually, making every flower stand out.
