Saturday Chitchat with Janine
So, if you’re considering starting a garden or adding to your existing one, go for it.
Whether it’s a sprawling yard or a small balcony – there’s always room for a little greenery!
A Personal Note from Janine

Happy Saturday, my friends!
Life here in Florida still feels a little surreal. We traded in our old backyard for a lake view, and now the water is basically our backyard. It’s beautiful… and somehow, even with a smaller garden, we still end up with piles of yard clippings every week. I guess that’s just part of bringing a neglected space back to life—lots of pruning, weeding, and a little bit of patience.
This spring, I couldn’t wait to get a few flowers in the ground. Now I’m finally starting to see blooms from my zinnias and roses, and it makes me so happy. There’s just something about having fresh flowers growing nearby that lifts your mood in the best way.
We’ve also been slowly fixing up our deck, and it’s becoming one of my favorite spots. On those cooler mornings, we sit outside with breakfast and just soak it all in. It feels simple and peaceful—my favorite kind of start to the day. I’ll have to share more of that space with you soon, especially the planters and chairs!
And a little fun update… yesterday was my birthday, so today we’re celebrating with lunch at The Cake Bake Shop. I can’t wait—the food is always so good, and the decor (and those cakes!) are just over-the-top in the best way.
Hope you have something special planned this Memorial Day weekend too! 💛

This Week’s Tip – Sun Sail

Hydrangeas thrive in the shade (except for Limelight Hydrangeas), so our hydrangea plants and blossoms tend to wilt on sunny summer days.
My husband installed a white sun sail over our hydrangeas a few summers ago, providing them with much-needed shade. Since then, we haven’t had to worry about them wilting anymore.
If your hydrangeas are in a sunny spot in your garden, consider installing an inexpensive sun sails to protect them!
Latest Obsession – Solar Lights

These adorable bee lights are solar-powered, and I’m absolutely crazy about them! Solar garden lights require no electricity or switches, making them incredibly convenient.
I decorated my rose bush with these cute bee lights, which are so cute when they twinkle at night. I also bought some solar landscaping lights that look similar to the traditional electric ones. The advancements in solar technology are awesome. While walking through our neighborhood, I noticed solar spotlights at our country club, and now I’m excited to get some for our front yard.
With all these cool tech advancements, now everyone can enjoy landscaping lights, even if they don’t have outdoor electricity!
