Saturday Chitchat

Calling all cooks and chefs, let’s whip up some simple, easy, and delicious Gluten-Free Recipes for the table this year. Whether you’re dealing with gluten allergies or simply looking to eat healthier without committing to a strict diet, gluten-free meals can be a game-changer. Plus, for those of us with loved ones who have dietary restrictions, creating these recipes is a beautiful way to show our care and love. In my case, it’s my daughter who eats gluten-free, and whipping up delicious, safe meals for her genuinely makes my day.

Gluten-free recipes aren’t just for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. They’re also fantastic for anyone who wants to eat cleaner and feel better.

But what I love most about gluten-free cooking is that it pushes you to get creative with ingredients.

Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 176

The endless and delicious possibilities!

One of the most exciting aspects of gluten-free cooking is the opportunity to discover new and exciting ingredients.

Creating these recipes isn’t just about health benefits for me; it’s also about the joy of cooking for my daughter.

So, gluten-free recipes are an excellent option for managing a gluten allergy or wanting to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

They encourage you to explore new flavors, experiment with wholesome ingredients, and create nutritious and delicious meals.

The best part is the joy it brings my daughter and the sense of accomplishment I get from making her favorite dishes.

A Personal Note from Janine

What do you find relaxing?

My favorite thing to do is bake and cook! Even on vacation, you’ll find me in the kitchen creating new dishes. I fondly remember a trip to Montana where our cabin didn’t have any Wi-Fi or cell reception, so we had no choice but to enjoy some non-electronic activities.

I happily baked to my heart’s content, enjoying the lack of distractions and the freedom to invent delicious recipes. I really need another trip to that cabin. My husband would love a last-minute getaway to flyfish his favorite Montana river! He can walk right out the door and onto some wonderful fishing pools.

In the meantime, I’m excited to share my culinary creations with you. If you’re not gluten-free, substitute your regular flour; everything should turn out great!

If you’re new here, welcome! And to those who regularly check-in, welcome back. Pull up a chair, and let’s hang out on this beautiful Saturday!

Cheers,

This Week’s Inspiration – Gluten Free Recipes

Gluten-Free Blackberry Cobbler Recipe

This Gluten-Free Blackberry Cobbler Recipe is similar to a blackberry pie without the hassle of making one! The berry filling is dripping with a berry sauce, and the topping is a crispy, sweet crumble. It’s an easy cobbler with the benefits of being gluten-free! I love this crust more than the regular flour version.

Spicy Edamame Recipe

This Spicy Edamame Recipe packs a punch with a hint of sweetness from the sweet, hot chili sauce. This sauce makes these high-protein snacks a family favorite. We often order them when dining out, which inspired me to recreate them at home. My version was so delicious that my husband and daughter couldn’t resist cleaning the bowl!

Gluten-Free Lemon Drizzle Cake

This smooth gluten-free Free Lemon Drizzle Cake is wheat-free but tastes like it has wheat. It’s similar to a lemon pound cake recipe minus the wheat flour. The intense lemon flavor makes it the best lemon cake around.

Grilled Stone Fruit Salad

Here’s an easy summer Grilled Stone Fruit Salad Recipe. This delightful fruit salad combines juicy grilled peaches and various summer fruits, including berries and cherries. This fruit salad with a twist is topped off with creamy burrata cheese and drizzled with sweet honey.

Recipe for Gluten-Free Pizzelles

This recipe for gluten-free pizzelles is easy to make with just a few ingredients. No flour surpasses the authentic Italian gluten-free Caputo flour, crafted meticulously in Italy. Indulge in this thin, crispy, buttery cookie that pairs perfectly with a bowl of creamy ice cream or coffee.

Almond Flour Blueberry Muffins Recipe

This gluten-free Almond Flour Blueberry Muffin recipe offers the delightful taste of a regular gluten muffin—the secret lies in combining almond flour with other gluten-free ingredients to achieve a moist and flaky texture. Incorporating fresh or frozen blueberries into the recipe adds flavor and moisture, resulting in a perfect little treat.

Curried Couscous Salad Recipe

Here’s a delicious Curried Couscous Salad Recipe that perfectly combines sweetness and heat! This recipe blends Pearl Israeli Couscous, roasted carrots, cauliflower, curry, cumin, cilantro, lime, and cayenne for heat. It is from a California restaurant chain, Mendocino Farms.

Lemon Sorbet in a Lemon

Lemon sorbet in a Lemon is a wonderfully refreshing dessert perfect for hot summer days. This version of lemon sorbet is straightforward since you don’t need an ice cream maker. Lemon sorbet served in frozen lemon shells is an impressive and delicious dessert. This frozen lemon sorbet only has five ingredients that are simple to combine.

Gluten-Free Slutty Brownies

Make these Gluten Free Slutty Brownies when you want to make a decadent chocolate Oreo dessert without the flour. This delicious brownie contains a chocolate chip cookie base with an Oreo cookie middle and is topped with a chocolatey brownie. All of these delightful layers are gluten-free.

Ranger Cookie Recipe

This Ranger Cookie Recipe blends oatmeal, coconut, cornflakes, and chocolate chips. This blend of yummy ingredients creates crispy edges with a slightly chewy texture. You can substitute both the flour and my gluten-free flour blend.

Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie

This recipe is the best Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. It also has the best ingredients since it only has four. I have always loved gluten-free cookie recipes, and this one is one of my favorites. When you taste this cookie, you’ll swear it has flour. But the peanut butter and egg make the dough like a regular cookie. While experimenting, I omitted the baking soda, creating a flat, chewy cookie.

Couscous and Sweet Potato Salad

I love a healthy salad, and this Couscous and Sweet Potato Salad Recipe is one of my favorites! We add some grilled protein on the side and make this salad our meal. The roasted sweet potatoes pair nicely with the kale and couscous. Throw in a few chopped apples and a sweet vinegar coleslaw dressing, and you’re ready to dive into a hearty and delicious salad.

Blue and White Fall Decor

Let’s refresh your home with this stunning collection of Blue and White Fall Decor for the upcoming season. Fall is traditionally associated with warm hues—rich oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows. But it’s refreshing to shake things up now and then, and that’s where blue and white fall decor comes in. These incredibly sophisticated and serene colors bring fresh, unexpected elegance to the season.

More Gluten Free Recipes From My Friends

Gluten-Free Apple Crisp

This gluten-free apple crisp combines soft-baked apples flavored with maple and warm spices with a crumbly oat topping. Instead of using all-purpose flour, combine almond meal and oats. Almond meal adds a lovely texture and delicious nutty flavor. To keep the recipe gluten-free, make sure you’re using certified GF oats. This is a beautiful alternative to my regular apple crisp recipe.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Cereal Bars

Here’s a quick, risk-free way to get rich: Try our easy take on the classic chocolate caramel butter bars known as millionaire’s shortbread. We swap in crispy, marshmallow-laden rice cereal for its base and add a thin layer of peanut butter caramel under the chocolate shell topping. Just invest a little time to let it chill, and it pays off with every extravagant bite.

This Week’s Tip – My Gluten-Free Flour Mix

My Gluten-Free Flour Recipe

Over the years, I’ve tried store-bought gluten-free flour but was never satisfied with how my baked desserts turned out. So, I got to work and created my blend of flour and starches.

I’ve come up with a mix that yields 1 cup and another that yields 2 1/2 cups, and I always keep a batch on hand for my recipes. If you’re baking gluten-free, try making a batch and storing it for your baking needs! It keeps everything moist and crispy. I love my gluten-free flour blend!

Latest Obsession – Butter Dish

The Best Butter Dish

I bought this butter container last winter and was thrilled to discover that it keeps butter fresh at room temperature. All I have to do is place a stick of butter inside and secure the lid with its silicone ring, which helps preserve the butter for longer.

The butter stays fresh and soft without using a butter bell’s water system. The real test was how it would hold up in the hot summer and pass with flying colors! The butter stayed fresh and was much easier to manage than a butter bell.

Long story short, I love this butter container. Plus, it comes in eleven fun colors!

My Amazon Finds –

Hey there!

Try gluten-free cooking, and you might fall in love with the process, just like I did. Happy cooking, everyone!
