California is in a significant drought, so our focus is always on finding Flowers that Require Little Water. I’ve collected a list of some pretty and surprising flowers that are drought tolerant.
Initially, I thought of drought tolerant plants, including mostly succulents! 😂 But after searching and experimenting, I found that wasn’t the case. As much as I love succulents, my garden needs a little variety and color.
Gardening is my husband’s and mine passion. And now, with a severe drought looming over us for the last couple of years, we have tried to find plants that survive without much water.
I’m sharing some flowers that I found to be drought resistant. And, of course, I recently found some more flowers to add to my gardening list.

We have a few of these plants, and we plan to buy a few of the others this fall or next spring. The cool thing about some of these flowers that require little water is that they don’t need much in the way of care. Once you plant them and get them started, they will grow and be happy.
One thing that I’m super happy about is that we planted a ton of English lavender. Little did I know there is a vast difference in the lavender varieties. The old bush that we owned blossomed in the spring, and their flowers faded away by summer. Well, the new lavender we planted is blooming all summer long!
So do your research when buying plants!
Speaking of my garden, I think I’ll do some weeding outside since the weather has cooled down.
Happy Gardening!
