Lately, we are making a ton of bread and pastries over here at the Waite Pad. And one that we make every week is my brother’s Raisin Bread Recipe. He eats a plant-based diet, so this vegan recipe contains no dairy.
There is something about staying at home that has us baking our bread. Maybe since it is so much work to get groceries that triggered our baking obsession, I’m not sure. Well, we love my brother Mark’s (My Photography) vegan raisin bread recipe. It is moist, unlike other recipes I have tried.

I do make all types of bread, and you can see one of the no-knead rustic bread recipes, but this recipe is tailored specifically for the bread machine. I inherited my Mom’s Williams Sonoma bread machine, which I love. But, recently I found that it is no longer available in their stores. So, here are the latest ones over on Williams Sonoma that got great reviews and the price is definitely right. It is a Cuisinart Bread Machine and 12 preprogrammed menu options: White, French, Whole Wheat, Ultra-Fast, Sweet, Gluten-Free, Artisan Dough, Dough, Jam, Packaged Mix, Cake, Bake-Only. That’s so cool that it makes jam!
This raisin bread recipe has all vegan and dairy-free ingredients. Instead of using butter, my brother uses almond yogurt. Also, instead of milk, he substituted almond milk. I love that if you have a dairy allergy, then this is the bread for you. But, if you want to use butter, use 2 tablespoons in exchange for the yogurt and exchange the cow’s milk for almond milk with the exact measurements.

I want to try this! Is the yeast just active dry yeast? Or is it instant or bread yeast? I’m new to bread making!

Hi Lynette,
I’m so excited you want to try this bread! I use both types of yeast. Good luck with your bread. Are you going to make it in a bread machine? Let me know how it comes out!
