My husband’s Planter’s Punch recipe has just a few ingredients. It’s a refreshing drink that is fruity and sweet and a wonderful summer cocktail. Everyone loves this summer cold drink!

The fun thing about this cold drink is you can make it with rum or without. In our home, my husband makes a non-alcoholic version for me which I love.

This week on the blog is all about drink recipes. You can find a range of tea, coffee, and cocktails among the recipes I’ve shared recently.

Sean Johnson from Spruce Eats summed up Planter’s Punch ingredients nicely,

“A Planter’s Punch is one of those recipes that morphs and changes with the whim of the times and ingredients you might have on hand. This is a great cocktail to begin to understand “punches” on a larger scale, and this recipe is a starting point to concoct a Planter’s Punch of your very own.”

So, add as much fruit as you want and enjoy creating a drink that contains your favorite things.

What is Planter’s Punch?

It’s a refreshing sweet tropical cocktail whose base alcohol is dark rum. The main fruit juices are fresh orange and pineapple juices. It is a punch that is a mixture of several fruit juices with the addition of liquor. And like a punch, you can make it in a pitcher for a crowd.

Make it For a Crowd

You can make this delicious fruity drink by the glass or for a crowd. Use 3 cups orange juice, 1 cup pineapple juice, and 1/2 cup grenadine. Add as much rum as you prefer. Mix in a pitcher and add crushed ice to each glass and pour over ice. Garnish with your favorite fruit.

How I Make a Planter’s Punch

I know most drinks are made in those fancy containers then shaken and poured over ice. But, I love to make it in a glass, and I add my crushed ice first, pour the grenadine first, and then my fruit juices. If you make it with layers, you get this beautiful almost summer sunset going on in your drink. It’s like a tropical vacation in a glass!
