Well, the other day, I finally said my official goodbye to summer. Now, it was time to think about introducing some cozy fall decor. I seriously believe that if it weren’t for the seasons, life would be somewhat mundane. We do experience the seasons here in San Francisco, but they are a bit short and a tad heavier on summer!

Add a Fall Garland Around Your Kitchen Windows
Oh boy, I have all kinds of homemade garlands in my repertoire and they are all stored on the back of my office door. So, I grabbed these fall paper garlands. They add so much to our kitchen and I think I spent the price of a used hardback book. On another note, don’t worry about the nails, instead use 3M temporary hooks to hang your garland.
Place a Fall Wreath on Your Hood
Not only do I have a lot of garlands I also have a ton of wreaths. I made this felt rosette wreath last year and I love placing it different parts of our home. I have never decorated our stove hood, and I thought it would be a fun little touch. Anything goes for fall decorating ideas for the kitchen.
To Add Fall Decorating in Your Kitchen, Display and Use Festive Fall Dishtowels
So, I recently made this at blogging conference, called Haven. I love this Gather dishtowel that I created with A Makers Studio fabric paint and stencils. You guys, it is so easy to make this and it doesn’t have the stiff plastic feel of the iron-on transfers. Also, it adds a fun fall touch to our kitchen!
Fill Your Countertops with Fall Fruit
My kitchen right now is filled with fruit from my gardener’s yard and a local open lot. My amazing gardener, Bernardo always supplies with yummy figs from his garden. Last year he gave me a ton of his persimmons and I decorated my fall Thanksgiving table. Today, when he gave me a bag full of his figs, I noticed he calls me Janin-nie, pronounced and rhymes with the word, Meanie!
The pears that you see in the photo are from an open lot which my husband and I walk by every evening. The other day, my husband mentioned we should pick a few since they were rotting on the branches. So, every couple of days we pick a few of these beautiful Barlett pears. It’s so cool that just a few seasonal fruits can provide fall inspiration for your kitchen.
Don’t Forget to Add Some Flowers

You know how I love flowers, so I had to add a few to our kitchen. And can you believe I spent only $19 on this beautiful bouquet? I took a trip to our local Trader Joes with all intentions to buy some dahlias in the traditional Autumn colors. Well, I just couldn’t do it, instead of the rust, orange, and yellow color combination, I came out of the store with white alstroemerias, purple carnations, and yellow sunflowers. And let’s not forget the soft sage eucalyptus.
By the way, I have many more flower arrangements, but I especially love my Mother’s Day Floral Arrangement in which my choices are limited to our local grocery store’s, tulips, eucalyptus, and roses!
I was pleased with the outcome and price! Flowers are an easy way to introduce fall decorating ideas for the kitchen.
