Personal Note from Janine
A few years back, while we were all stuck at home during quarantine, our family had a remarkable bonding experience. We engaged in board games, shared hearty dinners, and cherished this unique time together.
But, to escape the stress of the outside world, my son came up with the idea of organizing a seven-course French dinner on our lawn. Each of us took charge of a dish while I happily handled the table decorations.
The dinner, served on small plates by my son and daughter, turned out to be incredibly memorable and delicious. My son’s duck confit was an absolute hit, though unfortunately, he can’t recall the recipe now!
Looking forward to his visit this summer, we’re already planning another special evening, this time featuring an Indian dinner menu.
Make the most of this summer by gathering loved ones and savoring a delightful homemade feast as you create cherished memories.
Happy Solstice to you all!

This Week’s Tip – Gluten-Free Flour from Italy
I walk with awesome friends every week. And during our morning strolls, we cover every topic under the sun.
Last week my friend Kelly mention an incredible gluten-free flour she found. She made pizza dough with it, and she said it tasted amazing. Well, I wasted no time and bought two bags of Caputo Gluten-Free flour.
Fast forward to this weekend, and I have big plans for my culinary adventure. I’m excited to whip up goodies for my daughter using that amazing flour. Apparently, the food blogging community has given it some major props, ranking it among the crème de la crème of gluten-free flours. I can’t wait to put it to the test!
This flour is deemed safe for celiac. Here is the breakdown:
- The US FDA has approved it to be labeled gluten-free.
- The Canadian Celiac Association says it’s fine for Celiac.
- The Italian Ministry of Health has approved this flour as gluten-free and approved the facility for producing gluten-free products.
Latest Obsession – Pizzelle Baker
I’m not sure how I stumbled upon this fun little dessert maker. But some of you might be wondering what is a Pizzelle Baker!
Pizzelle pastry is a traditional Italian treat known for its delicate and crispy texture. It is made by pouring a special batter onto a hot, intricately designed iron press, creating thin, waffle-like cookies. The batter typically consists of flour, eggs, sugar, and butter or oil, often flavored with vanilla or anise.
Pizzelle pastries can be shaped into cones, cannoli shells, or sandwiched with sweet fillings. I plan to make a few ice cream waffle cones for my daughter!
I hope to share my recipe in a few weeks, so stay tuned.
