A Personal Note from Janine
I’m so excited that a new month is here, and it means we’re getting closer to spring! I’ve noticed the trees around here starting to bud, and the flowering trees show signs of blossom buds.
Even though we’re technically still in the winter season, I can’t help but daydream about the warmer days ahead.
Today, my mind is all about Valentine’s Day treats. I’ve made a decision to temporarily ditch my diet on February 14th so I can fully enjoy some homemade macaron cookies.
And yes, I recently took another macaron class, and now I’m feeling like a pro when it comes to whipping up these little gems!

This Week’s Tip – Freezing Lemons
If you have lemon trees in your yard, chances are you’ve got a surplus of lemons at the moment. If you’re not keen on juicing and freezing them, I’ve got a straightforward solution for you.
Simply give them a good wash and dry, and pop them into your freezer – yes, the whole lemon!
When it comes time to use them for culinary adventures, you can easily thaw them in the microwave for a few seconds or leave them on your kitchen counter. While the lemons might become somewhat mushy, the juice remains perfectly usable.
And if you’re after that lovely lemon zest, don’t bother thawing the lemons; grate them while they’re still frozen for the best results!
