Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 78
Happy Saturday,
Who loves fruit? I can’t help but have a bowl of the freshest bunch of berries paired with yogurt and granola every day. It’s too tasty to pass up!
For those who also love fruit and can’t go a day without it, here are some desserts with fruit to satisfy your taste buds.
I’ve always been a big fan of baking, especially treats with fruit, whether inside or on top. So, here are my latest, oldest, and favorite recipes from the blog.
Personal Note from Janine
My niece came to visit us this week, and we had a blast with her and her family.
She has a little one-year-old daughter whose middle name is my late mother’s name, Amy. My mom would be tickled to know that her great grand-niece has her name! It was bittersweet to meet my grand-niece without my mother.
So in honor of my mother, we all visited our local fruit orchard and picked peaches. My mom loved peaches and especially picking them fresh off the tree.
Once home, I made a homemade peach cobbler which we all enjoyed with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
Ah, the circle of life is sad but kind of a celebration of a new generation. The legacy of Amy lives on!
Enjoy these delicious fruit desserts that I have collected for you this Saturday!

This Week’s Tip – Freezing Lemons
Freezing Lemons
Many dishes require lemon juice when baking and cooking, and I found a way to always have a supply around the house.
If I have a lot of lemons in my garden, I will pop them into the freezer. Yes, I store the whole lemon right in my freezer. I know some folks will squeeze the juice into an ice tray, but I’m not patient enough.
Also, freezing the whole lemon preserves the lemon zest.
Place the frozen lemon in the microwave for a couple of seconds to thaw it. Also, I put a hole in the lemon to squeeze out the juice. This little trick works out nicely.
Latest Obsession – Containers
My Favorite Containers
I love these Rubbermaid storage containers.
I like that they are glass and have an airtight sealable lid. These containers stack nicely on top of each other, and the glass makes it easy to see the contents inside them.
They come in lots of sizes which is so convenient for leftovers. Also, the glass is perfect for heating food in the oven or the microwave.
These are the best containers around.
Happy Saturday,
Cheers to the weekend, everyone! I hope you had fun looking through this collection of desserts with fruit.
I sure did because my mouth is now watering, and I’m aching for a sweet strawberry pie!
