My Favorite Cakes are the ones that not only fill the kitchen with warm, sweet aromas but also bring smiles to the faces of my loved ones. Even though it’s been warm weather all summer long, baking cakes is still one of my absolute favorite things to do. There’s something about whipping up a sweet treat that brings comfort, joy, and a little bit of celebration into everyday life.
These cakes are easy to make and perfect for sharing with guests or enjoying solo with a cup of tea.
I often bake them on weekends when I have more time to slow down and enjoy the process. The smell alone fills the house with comfort!
Don’t let the word “fancy” scare you off—some of the prettiest cakes I make are the simplest.
I love styling cakes with edible flowers, a dusting of powdered sugar, or a swirl of whipped cream.
You don’t need hours in the kitchen or professional tools to make something that looks bakery-worthy.
And the best part? These cakes taste just as good as they look!
Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 223
I’ve come to love baking cakes that celebrate small wins, quiet afternoons, or simply the end of a long week.
These little moments are made sweeter with a slice of your favorite treat.
A Personal Note from Janine
Did you ever have an Easy-Bake Oven growing up? I was obsessed with mine. Those tiny pans and little cake mixes felt like pure magic to me. Looking back, it’s wild to think we were cooking with just a light bulb — and somehow, that was totally fine! 😂
Even though it didn’t exactly bake things perfectly, I didn’t care one bit. I was over-the-moon happy with my little oven and the mini treats it produced. Honestly, I think that’s where my love for baking first began.
I vividly remember waiting and wishing for it like Ralphie and his Red Ryder BB gun in A Christmas Story. I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I finally opened the box on Christmas morning. It was a gift I’ll never forget.
Fast forward to today, and my cake obsession is still going strong — just with slightly bigger ovens and better results!
I hope you enjoy this blog post filled with some of my all-time favorite cakes. They’re perfect for any celebration or just because.
Wishing you a fun and festive Fourth of July weekend! 🇺🇸🎂
Cheers,

I’m totally smitten with this retro-style cake stand from Martha Stewart’s collection! At first glance, you’d swear it was a charming vintage find from an antique shop — but surprise, it’s brand new!
