Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 77
Happy Saturday,
How is your weekend going? My niece and her family are staying with us for a few days, and I couldn’t be happier! This weekend is extra special since we are reuniting with family members.
In the meantime, I thought meal ideas would be perfect for the occasion for those who are also having family over or seeing friends and joining get-togethers.
These everyday meals have been some of my favorites since the beginning of the blog. I included the latest recipes too!
There is a lot of variation throughout this post so feel free to scroll down to find the perfect main meal, dessert, or snack!
Personal Note from Janine
My son was a picky eater when he was little. On top of it, he was pretty stubborn when trying new foods. And good luck trying to get him to eat his veggies.
So, I had this bright idea to sign him up for some cooking classes at our local PCC Market in Seattle. The first class I signed him up for was “Cooking From Around the World.”
The first day I picked him up after class, he had a little bandaid on his finger. He chirped up quickly and said he cut his finger while chopping vegetables but was okay. Yikes! I forgot that knives were involved in the class.
The next thing he proudly mentioned was that he had three helpings of a very yummy vegetable soup they made! Oh my goodness, did this news take me by surprise.
Well, my idea of getting him hooked on vegetables and food worked. He is fantastic in the kitchen and creates fabulous meals for us at home. And his biggest passions are cooking and eating delicious meals.
Who knew that a kid’s cooking class could have such a significant impact on an eight-year-old boy?
Last week he made the journey back to Seattle to begin his new life after graduating college. He mentioned that he was excited to finally have a decent kitchen so that he could make some yummy meals.
And can you believe that a PCC market is across the street from his apartment? Maybe he’ll take some cooking classes on the weekends!
And he can teach me some new things in the kitchen!
Well, have a lovely weekend, and I hope you can try out some new recipes too!
Cheers,
PS: Sorry this story is long, but I guess I miss my son dearly!
