Saturday Chitchat with Janine – Volume 75
Happy Saturday,
It is a warm day in the Bay Area today! On days like this, it’s hard to bake. The oven ends up heating the whole house, turning into a sauna!
I either bake in the early morning before the bird gets the worm or start in the evening, where the temperatures are much cooler.
Ultimately, I have chosen to heat my house or wake up before the sun is up to bake mouthwatering recipes for you.
And yes, your taste buds will be thanking me later. Don’t forget to check out the best desserts for summer down below, and have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Personal Note from Janine
When I pick peaches in the summer, I can’t stop thinking of my mom. She loved gathering fruit and making jams and pie fillings. When we lived in Washington, she would visit, and we would take a trip to a farm in Carnation, Washington. We packed a picnic, and after harvesting wonderful raspberries, we would have lunch under a big shady tree.
Once we returned home with our bounty of fruit, it was all hands in the kitchen. Boiling bottles, prepping the fruit, and canning everything in sight!
It’s difficult to think she is missing out since I know she would love these peaches and the recipes.
Her spirit still lives within me since I picked a few wild blackberries on our little walk last night!
Here’s to my mom and all the traditions and interests she handed down to me!
Enjoy this fun Saturday Chitchat, and give your mom a hug and a squeeze for me!
Cheers,
