Traveling far to family and friends is more complicated than ever. I am so grateful that my kids can visit home safely while continuing their academic journey throughout this pandemic.
All the parents out there who are dealing with kids in school during the pandemic, I understand you.
To enjoy the time that you do have with your kids, take the weekend off and dive into these easy last-minute recipes and crafts for Valentine’s Day!
A Personal Note from Janine
Good Morning,
For this year’s Valentine’s Day dinner, I plan to create an indoor picnic for my family. I did this a while ago, and it was so fun.
When the kids were little and I went out with my girlfriends, the kids and my husband would plan an indoor picnic in our living room. It was their secret for many years since it was my rule that all the dinners should take place at the table.
I think one of them told me about their little secret and I had to smile.
Well, this year, I think I’ll create a few charcuterie boards for my husband, daughter, and me. It will be fun to create an appetizer board, a dinner board, and a small dessert board. The key will be, to make small charcuterie boards, since we all have small appetites.
We always stay in for Valentine’s Day since the restaurants are always so busy and crowded.
I hope you have a lovely day and enjoy this inspiring Saturday Chitchat.
PS: Monday I’m starting a Monthly Cake Challenge! I’ll be featuring a pretty cool cake. I hope you can try making it and then send me your photos. I’ll share the entries over here on the blog.
So stay tuned, since I’ll share the cake in Monday’s newsletter.

The idea of making a good-sized chocolate heart filled with more chocolate goodness sounds so delicious to me I couldn’t resist.

This Week’s Tip – A Awesome Melting Chocolate
This Chocolate Melts Great!
For years, I struggled when it came to melting white chocolate. Finally, I found Merckens chocolate and purchased it by mistake on Amazon.
When I melted it in my double boiler, the results surprised me. The chocolate came out so smooth and beautiful. Also, I kept it warm for a while so I could use it for covering multiple strawberries. Wilton melting chocolate doesn’t even compare to this brand.
So, I’m using this chocolate for all my current Valentine’s recipes and you should too!
My Latest Obsession – Cute Heart-Shaped Bowls
These Bowls Are So Cute
I recently ordered these adorable heart-shaped bowls and I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived.
I used them on my Valentine’s charcuterie board and they look so cute. And the price for this set of four is $14.99 which I think is a good deal. Also, I know that I’ll use these throughout the year for my desserts.
My husband laughs at me since I own so many bowls! Hopefully, he won’t visit my studio and see all my supplies!
Happy Saturday,
Who has an idea of what they’re going to create for Valentine’s Day? I sure do! I’m planning on baking more to send scrumptious desserts to friends and family. Whatever you decide to do or create, I hope you have a great time!
Have a great weekend.
