Happy Saturday,
Has anyone else caught the spring fever, or are you still experiencing cold snow days? I hope you are safe, warm, and healthy throughout the season, wherever you may be.
To give you some spring inspiration, I also hope this post cheers you up during the horrific events occurring in Ukraine. I dream that everyone is well in the world, and I can’t wait for the war to be over.
It’s challenging to come back and write about positivity when such awful events are happening, but we must focus on the good, which I am doing.
To take your mind off of things, here’s a look at some spring favorites of mine to find your next family favorite recipe, a new wreath to create, or a decor tip you never knew.
A Personal Note from Janine
Good Morning!
I know that things are a bit tense in the world right now, and I hope all of you are safe and healthy. What a crazy spring this is turning out to be.
I try to stay informed and also return to my work. We all need relief, so I will continue to create beautiful and happy things.
My happiness comes from the blog and all of you. I have a lot of fun projects lined up, and my photographer and I had a two-day marathon capturing the next set of them.
Many of you have left some lovely comments on the blog, and I always love hearing from you! I’m a bit late getting around to your messages, so hopefully, you’re patient with me. I wish I could get up at like 5:00 am every day and get more work done, but I need a good night’s rest.
Well, enough about me, let’s get this Saturday Chitchat started.
We are off to hike the hills in Napa today, and I hope to see the wild poppies in full bloom.
Take care, and thanks for all your incredible support.
Cheers,

Peonies bloom during late spring and early summer, so in this case, let’s look forward to them in the spring. And once they show up in the stores, you can bake this cake!
Peonies happen to be edible, so they are safe. But, before adding any flowers, always make sure the flowers are not poisonous. Today, I’m going to share a technique in which the flowers have no contact with the cake.
There is nothing quite as beautiful as peonies. And when you have a cute white cake and add fresh peonies, the combination is stunning!

This Week’s Tip – Freezing Lemons
Here’s An Easy Way to Freeze Lemons
I know many of you probably know how to freeze lemon juice in ice cube trays. But here is a super-easy way to save a little bit of time.
If your lemon trees have an abundance of lemons right now, harvest them for freezing.
Bring them inside and give them a good wash and dry. Then place them in your freezer either as is or in a plastic Ziploc bag. When you need it for baking or cooking, pop them out of the freezer and allow them to thaw on the counter or zap them in a microwaveable glass. I usually microwave them for just a couple of seconds.
The lemons get a little bit mush, but you can still extract the juice. If you need to zest the lemon make sure to grate it frozen before thawing it in the microwave.
I also freeze my tomatoes like this and use them in soups. It’s the easiest and best!
